We’ve all had a friend who talks continuously about a game and how good it is but there’s that doubt in the back of your mind as to whether or not they are telling the truth or just hyping it up to be better than what it sounds. Fortunately, there is a way to share your steam library with a friend or family member using the family share option. So How do your family share on steam? Don’t worry it’s a very easy task without much need for identification through steam.
How to family share on Steam
First off you need to make sure both computers have steam installed. To share a steam library with a friend you will need to have their log in details. Don’t worry afterwards you get to log out of their account. Once you have their details do the following:
(Make sure you are logged in on the account you want to share your games with, in our example above it would be the friend’s account).

What this option enables is the ability to share your steam library with anyone else that has been on your computer. Once you are done just log out of your friends account and back to yours, you will then get the option on the left to download and play their games. It is worth noting that you can do this with up to 5 friends, so choose carefully, you can, however, delete ones you don’t use. This ability will also share your games with them and they can also play your games should they wish to do so. Unfortunately, the downside to this feature is you can’t play the same game at the same time (if you’re using your friend’s copy of the game) To remove access, just do the same again and click “revoke under sharing status”.
You will need an internet connection for the above to work and you have to share the whole library not just 1 game. It is also worth noting the owner of the game can kick the other person off if they try to play the main game.
